In close conjunction with Moorestown Ecumenical Neighborhood Development (MEND) and its joint venture development partner Conifer Realty, LLC, Stout & Caldwell Engineers was contracted to provide site engineering, surveying and permitting services for the development of Springside School Apartments in Burlington Township. The 75-unit low- and moderate-income apartment community provides residences and services for both senior citizens and those requiring supportive services for independent living. Initially built in 1871 as a one-room schoolhouse known as the Mitchell School at Springside, Springisde School was entered into the New Jersey Register of Historic Places on January 22, 2015.
Springside School Apartments have been restored to preserve the historic school building’s original grandeur while providing a range of amenities for today’s lifestyle. Offering one and two bedroom apartments, Springside was designed for individuals 55+. The original school building, dating back to 1916, was converted into affordable apartments with a community room located in the former gymnasium.
